About Us
Some time ago a family was heading out for their first day's adventure in a foreign land. However, children were dragging their feet, generally failing to get ready. A family meeting was called, and suddenly, in a flood of emotion, the children admitted they did not want to go out at all, for fear of not speaking the language. So, Amory Donohue returned home determined to find a Spanish program for her children. Language in Action was started in 2003 because few classes were available with reliable schedules, and none with a true commitment to language immersion for preschoolers.
Before developing an interest in early childhood education, Amory produced a range of children's educational products, from board games to electronic multimedia. In addition to foreign language programs for preschoolers, Amory is deeply interested in developmental education, different learning styles, and the integration of best educational practices in the immersion classroom. She is committed to finding dedicated teachers, predominantly native-speakers, and creating an environment for teaching success and professional development.
Our teaching team is dedicated to teaching preschool children. Their commitment goes far beyond teaching a new language, as they are focused on preparing our young charges to thrive in a classroom setting, develop curiosity about their world, and start on a path to becoming life-long learners. Our teachers also take great pride in sharing their heritage, and recognize that simply learning a language is incomplete without joy and appreciation for the associated cultural traditions. Their contributions and teamwork are invaluable to the experience for the young students at HolaKids.
